Inside My Spring Makeup Bag

As the 20th March marked the first official day of Spring, I have decided to do a Spring-inspired 'beauty essentials' post. Spring is such a lovely time of the year (one of my favourites) and I feel that style/beauty-wise it's the most prettiest season of all.
Spring represents rebirth, purity, new life and youth. It's the gorgeous season where lambs dance around fields and daffodils crop up almost everywhere you look in Wales.
For me, I love nothing more than pretty details and floral prints during Spring. In terms of beauty, I am all about warm, soft and rosy colours - dewy lips and glowing cheeks. Although I am a huge fan of the fresh pastels and bright block colours that have been gracing all high-street shops, I'm really loving the barely-there makeup and neutral tones this Spring.

Inside My Spring Makeup Bag:

1.  Rimmel's Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in 050 Live Pink - a soft blush, in my eyes, is absolutely essential for Spring. Rimmel's Blush is long lasting, pretty and blends well.

2. Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in 030 Sand - beauty-wise, this is my saviour and I will firmly carry this into Spring with me. This mousse foundation is light, natural-looking and has great coverage when it comes to blemishes. On a clear Spring day I often like to go makeup-free, however this little baby is great for covering up dark circles, spots and redness.

3. Bourjois' Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix Foundation - as many of you may know, this foundation is something I will take to the grave. I previously did a review on this foundation (read it here) and it's currently my most popular post! If you haven't already tried it, just do it. (And then come back and tell me what you think!)

4. Garnier's Summer Body Moisturising Lotion - spring is the lead up to summer, and summer is the season of the legs. Us girls love prepping for summer in various ways, and one of my favourites is a gradual tanning lotion. Although I've only used Garnier's lotion once (so not much of a tan -  or 'glow', as I like to call it - has yet developed) I can already tell you that it's a lovely moisturiser, smells delicious and if I start developing a mild summer tan then I am completely sold.

5. Rimmel's Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 003 Peach Glow - now that the sun is braving his face, we need to cover up shiny skin and pretend that us British girls are used to the sun. Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder is long lasting, a lovely warm colour and sets foundation perfectly. I've been back to buy this two or three times since my last purchase and it's a staple piece in my makeup bag!

6. No7's Extreme Length Sensitive Mascara in Brown/Black - the other day I realised where I'd been going wrong makeup-wise all my life. Thick, clumpy black mascara is not attractive (as much as we ladies like to think), and I was recently given No7's Sensitive Mascara. I don't particularly suffer with sensitive eyes, but I tried the product anyway and now I don't think I can turn back. In the shade 'Brown/Black' the mascara is more subtle than a jet black mascara, however creates amazing length. Soft brown mascaras are essential for my Spring.

7. The Body Shop's Eye Definer in Shade: Pure Gold - I picked this up in The Body Shop's sale and it also seems to have worked its way into my every day makeup bag. As I have brown eyes, I find this pencil compliments them perfectly - it highlights them and makes them (softly) 'pop'. It also adds perfectly to natural, barely-there looks.

8. Rimmel's Lasting Finish Lipstick in 006 Pink Blush - add a splash of pink into your look for a feminine/floral touch. With this lipstick, I dab it onto my lips and then rub it in - as applying too much straight to the lips can result in a very bright colour! This lipstick is also good to blend into cheeks - it gives a soft, rosy Spring-like glow.

9. Marks & Spencer's Perfection Illuminator - I received this illuminator for Christmas and didn't expect to love it half as much as I do! The three different shades are more than perfect for Spring - you can use them individually or a combination of the three. The illuminator has a slight shimmer which is perfect for me, as I like delicate and shimmery cheeks.

10. Rimmel's Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 001 Dark Brown - Spring is not the time to neglect your brows. I keep mine in shape with Rimmel's Eyebrow Pencil which has a super handy blending brush on the end of the lid. It always has and always will be my favourite eyebrow pencil.

11. Wilkos Sweet Vanilla & Honey Lip Balm - this is one of those products that you buy mainly because it smells so good that you can't put it back. This lip balm is from Wilkinsons and is surprisingly very good. I'm obsessed with scents and smells (you should see my candle collection!) and this lip balm smells like it could easily be a more high-end product. It moisturises and softens lips up well. I often like to use this on top of lipstick during Spring as it adds a fresh, dewy look.

12. Nivea's Pure & Natural Milk & Honey Lip Balm - yes, another lip balm is essential to my Spring makeup bag. Nivea's Milk & Honey Lip Balm is light, gentle and subtle. The bright yellow colouring of it alone makes me want to jump into my Spring gear!

What are your Spring essentials?

  1. Love your spring picks. My make up bag is all about a light base with peachy pink colours on my lips and cheeks. I love the Rimmel stay matte powder for the warmer months too, its great at keeping the shine at bay. :)
