Sweet Cecily's Cocktail Inspired Lip Balms

Being a huge fan of homemade products, and a huge fan of moisture-locking lip balms, I was super excited to hear that Sweet Cecily's were sending me a few homemade lip balms to review.
Sweet Cecily's is a gorgeous little business set up by Cecily, a woman who believes in natural, homemade skincare products and only using the best ingredients in her range. All items are free from harmful preservatives, Parabens and Petrochemicals, and no products or ingredients have been used or tested on animals. It's always good to know that what you're putting on your skin is safe, healthy and natural, and that's one of the reasons I was drawn to Sweet Cecily's in the first place. I was lucky enough to be sent three flavoured lip balms to review, which included one of their brand new flavours (!!!) which is soon to be launched. I really suffer from dry lips during the winter and feel like I've done my rounds with lip balms - I swear I've almost tried them all. I'm always excited to review a new product, but this one was particularly exciting as I feel it really applied to me and my lifestyle, with lip balms being part of my daily routine.
The lip balms arrived quickly and promptly, and I was impressed with the gorgeous design and packaging. My balms arrived in a lovely brown paper, wrapped with a 'Sweet Cecily's' bow which was a lovely touch. Simple and colourful, the lip balm tins are the perfect size for popping in your makeup/handbag and using on the go. I received three balms in flavours Mojito, Pina Colada, and the brand new flavour, Espresso Martini. I love the fact that the balms are cocktail inspired flavours - they add a fun and funky twist on a simple homemade lip balm.
Although the balms were quite dry and hard to begin with, I found that after breaking through the first layer all three balms were soft, hydrating and not too sticky (a common lip balm problem of mine). I've tried so many balms that leave my lips dryer than they were to begin with, so it's refreshing to have stumbled upon homemade ones that do a really good job! My favourite of all three was the Mojito flavour. Not only does it smell like summertime and a Mojito cocktail (perfect for a Winter pick-me-up), it also left my lips feeling soft, refreshed and hydrated with a glossy shine. The fresh, minty smell is gorgeous and light on my lips - definitely my favourite of the three! The Pina Colada flavour is also lovely, and a different smell altogether. I love that the three flavours are so different - depending on your mood and day, you can pick a different flavour. The Pina Colada has a sweet, summery scent and reminded me of my Pina Colada's in Spain - bliss. This lip balm also left me with a little shimmer which I loved, and was light and gentle on my lips. Last (but in no means least) is the brand new flavour, Espresso Martini. If you love coffee then I can already tell that you're going to love this! Unfortunately, I'm not a big coffee fan, but I am still able to enjoy this lovely little lip balm. The balm is equally as hydrating and moisturising as the others, minus the glossy shine - which is actually good as sometimes you don't want a glossy balm. The smell of this balm is very strong - perhaps a little overpowering if you don't love the smell of coffee, but in all fairness it is an Espresso Martini lip balm! I love that the balms are coloured and each resemble their flavour, adding another fun touch. All balms are clear (not coloured) on your lips and are light, gentle and soothing.
The lip balms are £2.95 each (10ml) - perfect for those of us who are on budgets. I also think they make perfect little gifts for friends!

  1. I've never really been into lipbalms but these sound fantastic. I like how they're homemade and not available in standard high street stores. I don't know of any other balms that are cocktail flavoured whish sounds so tempting. I think I'd go for Pina Colada.

  2. I love lipbalms - living on a remote rocky island in the middle of the north sea the winter weather can be really harsh and I rely on lipbalms to keep my lips from cracking most of the year. I don't go for the flavoured ones though as I'd be tempted to lick them off!
