Dream A Little Dream For Me... #DreamsExplained

It's dark and late at night. I'm stood outside my house with my friend, fumbling around with my keys in an attempt to lock the door in the dark. We're just about to go somewhere - nipping over to a friends, heading to the pub... I can't quite remember. Just as I'm done locking the door, my friend and I notice that the gate to our back garden is wide open. It's always locked - in fact we've never actually been able to open it, after it being jammed shut and padlocked by the previous tenants in our house. Past the gate, all I can see is darkness. There are no lights in my garden and even the bright moon leaves my garden in absolute darkness. I've had to climb that fence so many times to get into our garden after forgetting my keys, I thought, why is it open now? My friend timidly walks up to the gate and peers around into the garden, us both in silence. She turns around, looks at me and in a strangely calm voice says, "Amy, run" and as soon as the words are out of her mouth, she is sprinting up our driveway as fast as she can. I feel sick to my stomach and my legs feel wobbly, but I run up our drive as fast as I can to see her hiding behind one of the cars. "Hide!" she urgently whispers at me but at that moment I hear other footsteps running up our driveway and my legs turn into absolute jelly this time - I'm stuck and unable to move, my feet feeling like they've just been glued to the pavement. I look up and find that the other footsteps belong to two men; I can't quite make out their faces but I can see they are running straight towards me. In the corner of my eye I see my friend get up and sprint off down the road. They're so close now I make direct eye contact with one of the men, and just as he is about to grab me, I wake up.

Dreams are a very hard concept to fully get your head around. They can leave you feeling happy, sad, anxious, confused, excited... they can be absolutely random or they can feel very close and personal. Some people dream everyday and some people hardly dream at all. It's thought that dreams are an extension of our subconscious being/thoughts - so what are your dreams telling you?

I decided to do a little research into our dreams and find out what our most common symbols mean.

1. Being Chased - I'm sure we can all recall a dream where we're being chased - the vividness and anxiety you experience makes it easier to remember than other dreams. Being chased within your dream symbolises feeling threatened and a fear of the person/object chasing you.

2. Death - Typically, you'd think that death within your dream should have a negative symbolism. Death in a dream, however, is linked more to dramatic change within the dreamer's life and symbolises the ending of one thing and the start of something new.

3. Falling - Falling uncontrollably within our dreams symbolises something in our life that we feel is out of control. Falling from a great height suggests you may feel out of control or unable to take control of something in your life.

4. Babies - Although dreaming about babies can represent your literal desire to have a baby, seeing babies in your dreams may also symbolise your own need to feel loved. Babies also symbolise vulnerability and new starts in life.

5. Money - Handling money in your dreams symbolises your views of your own self worth. Exchanging money in your dream may symbolise that you're anticipating some changes in your own waking life.

6. Nudity - Nudity within your dreams symbolises revealing your true self to others, and feeling vulnerable or extremely exposed to other people.
