4 Simple Ways To Make Time For Yourself

1. Go To Bed a Little Earlier than Usual

Shut yourself off into your room fifteen minutes earlier than you usually would, and use this time for some 'me' time. Try reading a bit of that book you've been meaning to, or try meditating in bed before falling asleep. Even just sitting and listening to some relaxing music before bed is a great way of making time to just chill by yourself.

2. Catch the Bus

If you take the bus over getting a taxi, then you're already fitting in some alone time without realising. Next time you catch the bus, put together a playlist to listen to or download an audiobook or podcast. Not only does it give you something to do on an otherwise boring journey, it's also something that you'll enjoy doing by yourself.

3. Get Lunch by Yourself

During your lunch break it's really easy to spend the whole time chatting to coworkers or to even skip lunch completely. Take yourself out to lunch for some crucial me-time. Pick yourself up some lunch and sit by the river or pop into your favourite nearby cafe to enjoy some food alone. Take this time to refresh yourself and to recharge before the rest of your day!

4. Get Up a Little Earlier than Usual

Set your alarm around fifteen minutes earlier than usual (hard, I know) and use this time for yourself. Get up, make a hot cup of coffee and flick through the newspaper before your day starts. You'll feel a lot more prepared for your day after having a tiny bit of time to relax in the morning.

  20. You are right, me time is so important to rebalance. I have two kids, so the only advice I can take is to go to bed a little earlier and read a book before going to sleep.
Before I had kids, and worked 9 to 5, I would read on the tube (or sleep), otherwise the journey felt like a waste of time...
