Love Your Body With Boohoo

Body confidence is something that we all, at one point or another in our lives, struggle with. When summer comes around, everything gets a bit too body-orientated - you can't scroll through Instagram without seeing adverts for tea that will 'make your tummy flat', or flick through a magazine without being bombarded by pictures of celebrities who are 'too fat' or 'too thin'. Love Island has also only just finished and, as much as we all love it, it does teach girls that teeny tiny waists and big boobs and bums are the way forward. There is so much pressure, in one way or another, put on us and it is no wonder that just 20% of women in the UK feel confident with their body (according to the Dove Global Beauty and Confidence Report).
When Boohoo contacted me and asked if I would like to collaborate with them on a new 'Love Your Body' campaign, I got very excited. What better way to kick off my return from travelling and the start of my British summer than with a little bit of self love? The ethos behind Boohoo's campaign is great. They don't believe that there is any 'cookie-cutter ideal' for the female body or that the beach is reserved only for the 'perfect' - in fact, they believe that women of all sizes and shapes should be celebrated and embraced. We are all perfect in our own way. There is no right or wrong body and there is no right or wrong way to dress your body.
Boohoo have asked a handful of bloggers, including myself, to choose two different pieces of swimwear from their website and to then show them off and share them on our blogs accompanied with a few body confidence questions. The aim is to encourage other females to feel confident in their own skin too.

It's one thing trotting round Thailand in a bikini amongst hundreds of others, but it is another thing to strip down into swimwear and put it, plainly and simply, on my blog for everyone to see. Just like everyone else, I also have times when I really struggle with my appearance and my body. Many people who are close to me struggle with body confidence issues and with their self esteem, and that's why I think that it is so important to address the fact that everyone, in one way or another, struggles with confidence. We all come in different shapes and sizes, with different hair and eye colours, different preferences and different ideas, and thats ok.
It sounds cliche but life is too short - eat the cake, buy the lipstick, wear the bikini and take the picture!!!

Boohoo's Questions:

1. What makes you feel confident?
I feel most confident when I am wearing something that makes me feel good - a pretty underwear set, a well-fitted dress, a new lipstick or a good pair of heels. I also feel confident when I am away in the sun as that is when my skin is at its best.

2. What advice would you give to someone trying to build their self-confidence/ is struggling with body image?
Do not compare yourself to other people - we are all completely different and that is ok. Remember that everyone struggles with their image at some point and it is normal. When you are looking in the mirror, look at your whole self rather than focusing on one feature or attribute that you may not like. Others do not see you how you see yourself! Most importantly, just love yourself - you are great and you are you!!

  15. Indeed we are all different and we shouldn't compare with each other. I am sure that almost everyone in this world struggles with their body imagine and most of us would not have the courage to put a bathing suit on, take a photo and then post it on the blog. You go girl!
