Introducing... Seatox

If there's one thing that you need in your bathroom this summer, it's Seatox. We have been lucky enough to be blessed with lots of sun in the UK this summer and whilst it's been absolutely glorious, we need to remember to look after our skin - and natural seaweed products are a great place to start. I am all for promoting natural healthy skincare products, and Seatox is one of my favourites so far!

What is Seatox?

Seatox is a vegan, organic and anti-animal testing brand that specialises in seaweed skincare products. The brand was founded by Tess O'Shea, a 23 year old videographer living in Bristol who has a passion for nature, sustainability and cruelty-free skincare.

"Seatox was born out of my interest in finding natural and vegan alternatives to the synthetic and the chemical additives in skincare products. Having been blessed with a childhood often spent on the beautiful untouched rugged coast of the West of Ireland, I was able to witness a place where there was unique relationship between land, sea and people. Seaweed has been foraged for centuries in Ireland and served many uses from a nutritional food source to fertiliser and ancient spa treatments. It was a natural progression for Seatox to fledge from my Irish roots and appreciation for the plethora of beauty benefits of seaweed"

There are currently two different Seatox products available: Kelp Help and Selkie Smooth.

Kelp Help is an organic wild kelp face-mask powder, hand-harvested from the west coast of Ireland. To make a nourishing and revitalising face mask, simply use a tablespoon of the powder and mix it with one of these bases: rose oil, olive oil, coconut oil, honey or aloe vera gel.

Selkie Smooth is a nourishing seaweed bath soak made from 100% Fucus Serratus - a species of seaweed that is packed with high levels of essential vitamins and minerals, particularly retinol (vitamin A), promoting youthful and supple skin. To make a rejuvenating bath soak, simply rehydrate the seaweed in your warm/hot bath water and use the natural gels on your body, face and hair.

What are the benefits of seaweed on our skin?

  • Detoxes and exfoliates the skin
  • Brightens the skin (perfect for those with dull skin that needs a boost)
  • Promotes collagen production (anti-ageing properties)
  • Targets/heals acne, rosacea and other skin problems
  • Hydrates skin
  • Prevents damage to amino acids

Seaweed is one of the beauty industry's biggest kept secrets - and now it's out. If your skin needs a boost or you simply want to experience the natural beneficial properties of the sea, Seatox is a great place to start.

Have you the Kelp Help face mask or Selkie Smooth bath soak?
