Three Years

On Wednesday (9th April) Oscar and I celebrated three years of being together. Yes, three years! Time has gone so fast and in one way it feels like we only met last month, and in other ways it feels like I've known Oscar my whole life. If someone would have told me three and a half years ago that the guy on a skateboard I met in a bus stop would be my boyfriend, best friend and one of the most precious people to me today, I would've laughed in their face.
I met Oscar when I was the ripe old age of fourteen - a time when 'The Wimpy' was the coolest place to hang out and my friends and I had just discovered these things called mini skirts. I'm now seventeen years old (and no longer hang out in The Wimpy) and the last three years have been ones I'll never forget. Oscar has changed my life in so many ways - he's taught me how to love myself, how to love another and helped me grow (or blossom, as he puts it) into who I am today. I honestly wouldn't be who I am or where I am today without him.
When you're young and in a relationship it's easy for people to dismiss it and say that it won't work or won't last. Before I met Oscar I almost agreed with them - when you're in your teens it is a big thing to claim you're in love. When I first met Oscar I would never have thought that he would end up being one of the most important things in my life, and I would never have said that he would end up being my soul mate. Oscar constantly makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world - he's sat through Dirty Dancing, Ghost, The Notebook, Notting Hill and all my other sob-your-heart-out girlie favourites, he makes me laugh when I don't even feel like smiling and just by being himself he lets me know that there are good, genuine people in the world.
There's so much more I could write but I fear I'd be here for days. I just want to say - Oscar, you've been the light in my dark times, the sun on my rainy days and you have made me thankful for every single day. You've made me look at myself differently, my life differently and you've pushed me to follow my dreams and aim for the stars.
They say you know when you know... and I know.

  2. I've been following you for a hike and never knew you were 17! Wow! Only reason I didn't realize it is because you're wise beyond your years. Refreshing to see that in young people. I speak as if I'm old. I'm only 31. That's still young, right? Haha
