Having the teeniest tiniest room in Uni (it really is like a box) means I'm always on the lookout for ways to save space and keep my room de-cluttered. Like any normal girl, I constantly find myself in a sea of loose hair grips (I swear it's how we mark our territory), hair bands, makeup brushes and nail varnish bottles.
On a recent trip to IKEA I came across some gorgeous glass jars that were way too cute to put back on the shelf, and thought I'd share with you how I've used them to de-clutter my room. I think jars are perfect for organising your desk or dressing table, and they look super pretty too.

I used to keep my makeup brushes in a bigger pot, but somehow they'd always end up in the bathroom or all over my desk anyway. I decided to transfer them to this gorgeous little glass jar and I think they now look a lot prettier. I love that I can see exactly which brush I'm going for, and it's perfect to see my double-ended brushes too.

I'm absolutely terrible at keeping track of hair grips and hair bobbles so think these teeny glass jars are perfect for keeping them all organised and in one place. They look so cute on my dressing table too!
Big glass jar - 85p
Another thing I'm terrible at is keeping my nail polishes organised. They're always all over the place and I'm constantly looking for colours that I've lost! I bought this big jar and shoved them all in, and not only does it look lovely but I also have them all in one place. I think the fact you can see all the different colours and varnishes makes it look extra pretty too.
Although I bought my jars from IKEA, you can use any leftover jars (from Marmite and Nutella to the classic jam jar) to put all your loose bits and bobs into. Using jars is a cheap and easy way of storing things, and they look super pretty too. You can use jars to store many other things too, from tea bags and buttons to paperclips or sugar. They're perfect for storing those teeny things you don't really know what to do with.
I hope I've given you a little inspiration on ways to organise and de-clutter your desks and dressing tables - how do you store your loose beauty items?
xx

DeleteIKEA are amazing for storage ideas! I have some cute little patterned bowls which I store bits and bobs in on my desk, and bought on of those jars with the clamped lid to store cotton pads etc. I especially love that one you've bought to store nail varnishes in' how funky is that! x

I do the same thing! Haha. I bought two cute little boxes at Ikea where I keep things like hair gribs. Then I store all my nailpolish in a cute little victoria's secret bag and so on. I don't have the tinniest room but I like to keep everything organized so.

Having them in a jar makes it so easy to pick the right one and see exactly what you have etc. I might need to buy a bigger jar for mine soon, however! x
DeleteI love this idea! I especially love the bigger jar for your nail polish!

ReplyDeleteLove these jars, they look so cute! I can't believe how cheap the big one is as well! Great uses of jars.

What a fantastic idea and they look so cute! It's like a double win! x
ReplyDeleteI love using jars for stuff like this.
ReplyDeleteI actually cleaned out an old glass Yankee Candle Jar and use it for my makeup brushes. It's great because it's so heavy vs my brushes which are fairly light weight - other containers would tip over too easy around clumsy old me.
I love this idea, jars make everything look really well presented 💕
