If you're after good food and good drink then Italy - the home of pizza, pasta and delicious wine - is obviously the place to go. While many people opt for popular Italian destinations like Rome, Milan, Florence or Venice, the small city of Rimini in Northern Italy can be a cheaper option - and there's a beach too! If you happen to find yourself in Rimini, or are thinking of visiting, then here are a few things you can do while there.
Visit the beach (duh)
The main beach in Rimini stretches over more than 15km - so thats a whole lotta beach to enjoy. The beach is split into different sections; some are paid areas (as different establishments own the areas) and some are free for you to just go and lay down a towel and relax for free by yourself. The beach itself is a pretty good one - expect fine sands and lovely clear water. There are plenty of sun loungers dotted across the beach to relax on and the beach is certainly not short of bars and restaurants.
Walk around the old town (Rimini Centro)
Rimini has some pretty interesting history behind the Roman city. If you visit the old town, there are still many Roman features and elements that remain for you to see including the Arco d'Augusto. The Arco d'Augusto is the gate that lead to the old town and is over two thousand years old. It is well preserved and a great photo spot! There are plenty of restaurants and little shops, churches and many landmarks dotted around for you to take a look at in the old town. If you want to experience a pretty little Italian town with some excellent history, the old town is worth visiting.
The Tiberius Bridge
The five-arched stone Tiberius Bridge in Rimini is also worth a visit. It is, again, over two thousand years old and beautifully preserved - cars are still able to drive over it. The bridge also has some interesting history surrounding it which you can learn about while visiting, including how it was built and who by.
Explore the Marina
Rimini's marina (Rimini Marino Centro) is definitely not an area to be missed. Enjoy peaceful walks around the boats and surrounding streets in the day, and enjoy the clubs and bars and the area livens up in the evenings. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from (they all serve incredible food) and you can usually catch a pretty good sunset down on the beach too.
This place looks amazing - I really love Italy.
