10 Really Great Reasons to Get Out of Bed (Quarantine Edition)

One of my most popular and most-read blog posts of all time is 10 Really Great Reasons to Get Out of Bed. Since I wrote that blog post back in 2016, quite a few things have changed, although each of the ten reasons still stand. We've all had to adapt to living with a little thing you may know as Coronavirus, and it's safe to say it's been hard for many (including myself, at times). 

So, I thought it was about time: 10 Really Great Reasons to Get Out of Bed, the Quarantine/Self-Isolation Edition. 

Because even though we are living through a pandemic and you're probably not living life exactly how you imagined right now, there are still so many great reasons to get out of bed, even if it's just to go down to the living room or into your garden. 

Get out of bed

1. You need to stretch your legs. Staying in bed all day isn't good for the soul. 

2. You need to eat something! Your body is craving nutrients and goodness after sleep - give it what it needs.

3. Someone somewhere will really appreciate you Facetiming them, and it's better if you don't do it from bed.

4. There's a recipe somewhere just waiting to be tried and tasted. Nothing beats the rewarding feeling of cooking something delicious that you've never tried before.

5.  You have the opportunity to do something life-changing today! Sure, you may not be able to leave the house - but you can read, write, cook, learn, practice... 

6. Nothing beats the peace and quiet of the world before everyone else wakes. Grab a coffee and experience it, even it's just from your garden.

7. The feel of a hot shower on your skin. Enough said. 

8. Yoga can help stretch out your muscles. Lying in bed cannot.

9. The mornings and evenings are only going to get darker. Get up and appreciate them now!

10. You're a miracle. For you to be here, today, alive and breathing, is a miracle. Science, and the universe, and the stars aligned to bring you here today and make you who you are. Why lie in bed?



  1. I know that sometimes it can be super tough to get out of bed, so these are good reminders that we all need to do so and sometimes even the little steps make a real difference. Mich x
